When Is the Hanuman Aarti Sung?

The aarti is sung at the conclusion of Hanuman worship — after reciting the Hanuman Chalisa, and often after the Sankat Mochan Hanuman Ashtak or Bajrang Baan as well. In temples, it is sung during the morning and evening aarti; at home, devotees sing it on Tuesdays and Saturdays, on Hanuman Jayanti, and during any special prayer to Bajrang Bali. A small lamp or camphor flame is traditionally waved before Hanuman’s image while singing, and the flame is then shared so everyone present may receive its blessing.

Benefits of Singing the Hanuman Aarti

  • Completes the worship: The aarti is the traditional, joyous finale of Hanuman puja — singing it seals the devotion offered through the Chalisa and other hymns.
  • Invokes protection and strength: Each verse recalls Hanuman’s power to destroy evil and uplift devotees, filling the singer with courage and faith.
  • Brings the family together: Aarti is often sung collectively, uniting the household in shared devotion and peace.
  • Spiritual merit: The aarti itself promises that whoever sings it with love attains the supreme spiritual abode (param pad).
  • Peace of mind: The simple, melodious verses calm the heart and create a sacred atmosphere at home.
